Corpus Christi Summer 8-hour Position

POSITION: 8-hour Summer Kindergarten/School-age Teacher
TERM STARTING: July 3, 2012 – August 31, 2012
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a teacher you will be responsible for the physical, emotional and intellectual well-being of 10 kindergarten and 15 school-aged children. As part of a three staff team, you will share in the coordinating and implementing of the summer camp program, deal with parents and other staff in a cooperative manner and function as a member of the daycare cooperative. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ECE or equivalent required.
Membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators
Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills
Demonstrated Communication Skills
Demonstrated Organizational Skills
Demonstrated Creativity
Demonstrated Knowledge of First Aid and Emergency Procedures
Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills to perform all the Duties outlined in the Job Description
Experience with kindergarten/school age children, art, music, drama and recreation is an asset.
WHMIS Certification
HOURS: 8-hour rotating shift Monday to Friday, between 7:30am and 5:30pm
WAGES AND BENEFITS: $20.68 per hour (pending funding)

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

POSITION: Permanent Program Coordinator
EDUCATION: Completed E.C.E. Diploma or an AECEO equivalency certificate and be registered with the CECE.
START DATE: July 9, 2012
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Three years experience in a licensed day nursery.
· Experience in interpreting the day nurseries act, filling spaces, updating required forms, conducting staff meetings and liaising with parents on a regular basis as well as providing support to parents and staff in crises.
· Proven effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
· At least three years experience in group day care with children of varying age groups
· Demonstrated cooperative values, abilities, and qualities, including:
· Leadership skills in a cooperative setting
· Clear, responsive and diplomatic communication skills
· Mediation skills
· Ability to accept criticism and deal with it positively
· First Aid/CPR
· The following experiences would be considered an asset:
q Experience in coordinating staff and parents in a problem solving context.
q Experience in liaising with outside agencies.
q Coop experience preferred
q Supervision course or other post diploma education

SHIFTS: Monday to Friday – 8 Hours Shifts (times to be worked out with office co-workers)
Monthly Evening Board and Personnel meetings and other meetings as required
SALARY: $20.68/hour plus benefits.
