Admission Guidelines and Visiting Procedure
(These are general guidelines. They may change or differ depending on the program, the child's and/or parents comfort level, etc. A staff member will discuss what the individaul visiting procedures will be for each child.)
Often when children first start at day care, they experience a certain amount of anxiety and distress. The staff at the day care feels that a gradual introduction to the program helps make the child feel a great deal more secure and also enables the parents to get to know the program and the teachers.
Parents are required to schedule 2 visiting days with the staff in the program.
1. The first day consists of approximately a 2 hour visit in the morning
during which the parent is present for the full 2 hours.
2. On the second day, the parent stays for approximately 30 minutes and
then leaves for about 2 hours and returns after lunch and takes the
child home.
3. The third day may be a longer day with the child staying for lunch and
sleep-time.
It often takes a couple of weeks for children to feel more at ease but if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to approach the teachers in the program your child is in.
