Hopewell Kindergarten

 & School Age Program

The Hopewell Programs opened in 1978.

It is located in Hopewell Avenue Public School at 17 Hopewell Ave., Ottawa. 

The Kindergarten Program has space for 20 children.  The school Age program has space for 30 children.

Children must attend Hopewell School to attend these child care programs during the school year. 

On occasion, we may be able to accomadate children from other schools, for the summer only. 

 

PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAM

 

The programs focus on the social, physical, emotional and creative development of 50 children, aged 4-10 years of age, who attend Hopewell.  Language, math, science, music, and art activities are provided regularly.  At the same time, children are encouraged to explore all aspects of their world and to explore and create with natural materials both indoors and in the living environment outside.

 

The program raises awareness of multi-cultural issues and promotes non-sexist attitudes in all children through dramatic play and everyday-living activities; language experience in books, videos and films.  Physical play outdoors is supplemented by dance, music and movement.

 

At the Hopewell Program, we have created a calm, rich, stimulating environment for children.  In this safe and supportive place, we encourage consistency, fairness and caring; we emphasize cooperative play, problem solving (both as an individual and group skill), and positive verbal communication.
